Qualifications

• At least 7 years of professional journalism experience with a proven beat leadership.
• Deep sourcing within intelligence, military, Capitol Hill or cybersecurity, and ability to develop sources.
• Use data, digital forensics, or investigative techniques for original approaches.
• Translate technical programs into clear, gripping narratives for a global audience.
• Collaborate with visuals, graphics, and data teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop original, agenda-setting enterprise and investigative stories about U.S. intelligence and defense.
• Find angles to advance major breaking national security news under tight deadlines.
• File regularly and contribute to daily reporting when news cycles demand.
• Unearth and report features on clandestine operations and cyber threats.
• Collaborate across the bureau and with global teams to show national security impacts on markets and politics.
