Job summary

Peraton is seeking Independent Contractors for the Risk Decision Group to perform federal background investigations. Investigators interview subjects and gather records to determine suitability for access to sensitive U.S. government information, reporting findings via government systems.

Travel within a 50-mile radius is typical, and pay is task-based with contractor status. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, reside in the U.S., and maintain a business license/EIN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years general work experience; federal investigations preferred
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance; T5 adjudication preferred
• U.S. citizenship and residence in the U.S.
• Independent contractor must have a business license, EIN, and business bank account
• Field work within 50-mile radius of home location/primary work location
• Pay is based on tasks/activities performed
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; insurance required
• Strong typing and computer skills; proficient reading and transcription accuracy
• Ability to communicate clearly for extended periods by phone and in person

Responsibilities

• Conduct background investigations to determine employment suitability for access to sensitive information
• Interview subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family
• Perform records searches at police, court, education, and financial institutions
• Prepare clear, concise reports in government systems
