Description
The National Sales Director will be responsiblefor developing and implementing strategies for the acquisition of new DSO and independent dental offices. The primary objective of this position will be accomplished by directing the activities of the Business Development Managers, Business Development Associates, and Directors of Strategic Accounts, to acquire new customer offices from the DSO and independent dental markets and developing them into “true customers” that provide revenue for an ongoing period. This position will utilize data collection, analysis and reporting capabilities on a regular basis to drive performance and accountability among the sales team. The successful candidate for this position will be highly proficient and comfortable presenting metrics, data analysis and proposals to key customer leadership teams. Additionally, working with the Sr. VP of Sales and VP of Marketing will be responsible for developing and supporting the DDS Lab annual operating budget by identifying and setting company goals for customer retention and revenue growth.
Primary responsibilities
- Identify the richest opportunities among the DSO and independent customer markets and manage the Business Development team Business Development Associates, and Directors of Strategic Accounts, to drive the acquisition of new offices in the most productive manner possible:
- Develop strategy for each major DSO and independent organizations and implement these strategies within the Business Development team to drive office, doctor and revenue growth.
- Manage the activities of the team to retain all new and “win-back” offices in order to transition them into “true customers”. Implement appropriate performance objectives, work standards, metrics and reporting tools to drive performance.
- Establish and refine cost effective variable comp plans for team that will incentivize desired performance customer performance and maintain employee retention within the ranks of the team(s).
- Grow, develop and train the teams to function at the most cost effective and productive levels possible to drive revenue growth at levels that support the DDS annual revenue budget.
- Lead the onboarding process for new customers to utilize “MYDDSLAB.com” and the other DDS Lab customer tools and resources in the most effective manner possible.
- Measure ROI on the cost of the Sales team(s) to ensure appropriate return on cost.
- Lead the data analytics for business reviews with major customers, and participate in such business reviews, as requested.
- Disseminate information to all customer facing teams ensuring all product knowledge, initiatives and trends are up to date, including the creation of sales and call scripts.
- Ensure that the sales team documents 100% of activities in HubSpot and support culture of documentation of all contact activities.
- Develop and nurture strong customer contacts and positive, proactive relationships with office managers and representatives ensuring open streams of communication, including a seamless transition to account management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10+ years sales experience, with a minimum of 5 years in people management
- Experience in dental-related sales preferred
- Preferred experience across multiple functions in strategic roles (e.g., sales leadership, marketing leadership, new product development).
- Leadership skills to champion change in a highly dynamic environment, promote positive team atmosphere and sustain a continuous improvement culture.
- Must have excellent data analysis skills and ability to create compelling presentations to lead, in person or telephonically, business reviews and proposals with customer teams at the highest levels of their organizations to drive business retention, growth and margin improvement.
Special Requirements
- This position requires up to 50% travel within the continental USA. Frequently travel is outside the local area and overnight.
