Job summary

The Veterans of Foreign Wars seeks a National Pre-Discharge Claims Representative based at Joint Base Andrews, MD, to support transitioning service members under TAP and the VA’s Pre-Discharge program. You will prepare, develop and review VA benefits claims and serve as a claims case manager.

Requirements include a DD214 for verification, an associate degree (or three years related experience), strong customer service and public speaking skills, and advanced PC proficiency to navigate VA/DoD

Qualifications

• Official DD214 required for verification of service and VFW membership.
• Associate degree or three years' related experience.
• Strong customer service and analytical skills; public speaking often required.
• Proficiency with personal computers and VA/DoD processes.

Responsibilities

• Makes presentations and prepares and processes claims for VA benefits as part of the VFW's TAP and Pre-Discharge program.
• Acts as case manager for service members' claims and prepares statements for the claims.
• Advises service members on obtaining medical evidence and requirements for appeals.
• Interacts with DOD/VA officials and local veterans' organizations to support transitioning personnel.
