Job summary

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod seeks an executive leader to supervise ONM staff and ministries, reporting to the Chief Mission Officer. This role directs strategic initiatives, partners with districts and LCMS entities, and ensures alignment with Synod goals and policies.

Responsibilities include budget oversight, board support, and coordinating with national mission stakeholders. Occasional domestic travel will be required, with emphasis on collaboration and program development.

Qualifications

• Ordained LCMS member with strong doctrinal alignment.
• Advanced degree in theology, education, or related field.
• Minimum of five years parish or nonprofit leadership experience.
• Significant senior leadership experience supervising large staff/volunteer teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement ONM strategic plan aligned with Synod priorities and President's goals.
• Visit districts regularly to facilitate collaboration with district leadership.
• Provide strategic leadership for ONM initiatives to increase district, congregation, and school capacities.
• Supervise ONM budget development and financial performance.
• Serve as staff resource to the Board for National Mission and assist with board materials.
• Oversee granting of RSO status to US-based organizations meeting LCMS requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by CMO or Synod President.
