Job summary

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) seeks a full-time, exempt Director of COM Performance Excellence in Bethesda, MD to lead a national accreditation excellence and quality improvement program for COMs.

You will translate evolving COCA standards into practical guidance, design innovative tools and professional development, and collaborate with institutional leaders to strengthen accreditation readiness and institutional effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, health professions education, or related field.
• Terminal professional degree (PhD/EdD/DO/MD) considered.
• At least five years in medical education, accreditation, or quality improvement.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as COCA standards and lifecycle SME for COMs.
• Guide COMs through initial accreditation, site visits, and self-studies.
• Develop frameworks and tools for accreditation readiness and improvement.
• Lead accreditation research, benchmarking, and data-informed decision making.
• Collaborate across AACOM to align accreditation support with research and faculty development.
