Job summary

HNTB Corporation is seeking a Design Director in Kansas City, MO. This leadership role defines vision and quality standards for high-profile sports performance and training facility design, guiding a multi-studio team to deliver innovative, athlete-centered environments.

You will lead design reviews, engage with academia and industry groups, and shape practice-wide design strategy while mentoring staff and collaborating with marketing and business development to pursue large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Planning with 15 years of progressively responsible positions
• 10 years’ experience in design of complex projects
• Experience leading multi-discipline design teams

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and produce high quality design work meeting the firm’s 4 for 4 standards (quality, on time, on budget, client satisfaction)
• Lead regular design reviews across offices to ensure project performance
• Lead the National Design Committee activities and contribute to firm-wide design strategies
• Mentor and supervise design staff and support talent development
• Participate in pursuit strategies and collaborate with business development teams
