Job summary

Jobtailor is hiring a senior Commercial Credit Manager in New Jersey to lead underwriting, structuring, and credit administration for a diversified portfolio. You will guide a team of credit professionals, set risk thresholds, and ensure adherence to banking policies and regulatory standards.

You will drive risk-based credit decisions, mentor staff, and collaborate with Sales and Risk management to optimize performance and portfolio quality in a demanding banking environment.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant commercial lending relationship management, underwriting, and/or adjudication experience.
  • Prior lending authority of at least $1 million preferred.
  • SBA/Agency or specialty lending experience preferred.
  • Prior people management experience preferred.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Manage credit underwriting and credit administration functions for an assigned portfolio
  • Establish credit structure, Borrower Risk Ratings, and Facility Risk Ratings for new and existing credit relationships
  • Direct Centralized Credit Management staff in portfolio monitoring and origination of new credit exposure
  • Manage a team of commercial credit professionals, including Commercial Credit Underwriters
  • Hire talent, set goals, develop staff, manage performance and compensation decisions, promote teamwork, and handle disciplinary actions
  • Lead a commercial underwriting team adjudicating credits of varying complexity
  • Guide proper structuring of new and existing credit exposure within the bank’s risk appetite
  • Ensure adherence to risk policies and implement operational risk processes, policies, and practices
  • Drive satisfactory regulatory, loan review, internal, and compliance audits
  • Exercise loan decision authority within credit-policy limits and attain and exercise exception and high-risk loan authority
  • Participate in decision appeal discussions with sales management and/or credit risk management
  • Develop the underwriting team and coach Credit Managers and Underwriters
  • Discuss alternative structures, including SBA and other agencies, with market and sales personnel
  • Contribute to policy and standards discussions with senior management
  • Drive turnaround requirements in a loan production environment while maintaining quality
  • Maintain satisfactory portfolio delinquencies and charge-offs
  • Ensure compliance with TD Bank Credit Policy, Credit Standards, federal banking regulations, and government reporting requirements
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives such as process improvement, system enhancements, and workflow improvements
  • Build productive relationships with Commercial Bank business partners
  • Drive employee satisfaction and morale
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant commercial lending relationship management, underwriting, and/or adjudication experience
  • Prior lending authority of at least $1 million preferred
  • Small Business Administration/Agency, Healthcare Practice Solutions, or other specialty lending experience preferred
  • Prior people management experience preferred
