JOB SUMMARY
This position's primary role is to strategically develop and profitably grow Benchmade Key Account Sales. Responsibilities include analyzing market trends, product sell-through data, product assortment, competitive trends, and line review prep and execution while collaborating with our Field Rep Team to ensure engagement at retail and support in merchandising and educating sales staff. Own day-to-day relationships and collaborate with go-to-market strategy and implementation with buying teams of our key accounts. Provide regular and appropriate product-related feedback to the product design team while working cross-functionally with customer service, supply chain, demand planner, and finance. Create a working environment that makes Benchmade "easy to do business with" and puts Benchmade in the position to earn more market share and gain customer loyalty.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist in forecasting, creating, managing, and executing applicable sales goals quarterly with assigned Key accounts.
- Work with the Demand Planning team to provide accurate and detailed forecasts for assigned accounts.
- Continuously manage travel schedule, expenses, and MDF budget on an annual basis.
- Work with Marketing/Brand team to plan and execute account trainings, events, and other various marketing tasks.
- Represent Benchmade at select trade shows and attend all relevant account training and events.
- Consult regularly with Customer Service, Demand Planner, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Finance when appropriate to ensure first-rate customer service and communication, and maintain complete awareness of the production facilities, capacity, capabilities, and related activities.
- Strategically develop and grow Benchmade's product assortment within select key National Accounts and ensure brand consistency within product assortment and marketing efforts.
- Provide accounts with in-store merchandising recommendations based on assortment, available displays, and retail space.
- Work with 3rd party vendors to facilitate the timing, ordering, tracking, delivery, installation, and merchandising of displays.
- Complete, update, and maintain account item setup forms and provide all product-related imagery and other assets as needed.
- Utilize internal and external reporting systems to regularly track bookings, shipments, and sell-through progress and prepare monthly report-outs for upper management and the broader business.
- Actively analyze and/or recommend appropriate action regarding new, existing, modified, and potential product lines as they relate to current and new customers.
- Assist National Accounts Channel Manager in the development and execution of all applicable National Account sales processes, procedures, and programs.
- Strategically develop and maintain close working relationships with our National Account partners to proactively recognize market trends and ensure long-term success.
- Maintain constant and quick responsive communications with National Account buying teams, rep agency partners, and coworkers.
- Assist Product Development team in the development of new products, exclusives, and SMUs relative to their potential applications within the marketplace, and correlate with Benchmade's current and future production capacities and capabilities.
- Actively participate in internal /external sales-related meetings; maintain activity within related trade associations, civic activities, and participate in their leadership when possible.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Assists in negotiations of National Account agreements that align with Benchmade's strategies and financial plans for sustainable growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years recent sales or equivalent experience with at least 1 year in progressively responsible national sales experience preferred.
- Strong customer service skills - able to effectively interact with all levels of an organization, including C-level contacts, and build valuable customer relationships with a positive and professional attitude.
- Experience working in the outdoor, hunting/shooting, farm & ranch, hardware/tool industries preferred.
- Excellent organizational, written, oral, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient MS Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as contact management software experience
- Skilled sourcing via the Internet for sales leads, prospective companies' background, etc.
- Business-related bachelor's degree preferred, or additional equivalent sales experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Remote Office position.
- Must have or be able to obtain a passport within 30 days of hire.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Must be able to travel up to 40-50% throughout the United States, Canada, and potentially globally; overnight travel required.
- Must be able to set up/take down trade show booth & handle related materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
