Job summary

Schweitzer resort under Alterra Mountain Company is seeking a Seasonal part-time Race Crew member to support event operations and NASTAR alpine race activities on weekends and holidays.

You will help with setup, registration, and crowd management while ensuring safety and guest satisfaction in a snow environment. Prior on-snow experience is preferred, and shifts can include early mornings and variable weather conditions.

Qualifications

• English reading, writing and communication are required.
• 1–2 years in an on-snow position preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup and teardown of event spaces, including tents, signage, tables and equipment.
• Support event operations such as registration, guest assistance and crowd management.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of event areas before, during and after events.
• Set up and maintain racecourses, including gates, fencing and timing equipment.
• Operate timing systems and record race results accurately.
• Assist racers with registration, start procedures and post-race activities.

Position Summary

This dual-role position supports both general event operations and NASTAR alpine race activities, playing a key part in delivering memorable guest experiences. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down event infrastructure, assisting with logistics, and maintaining a safe, organized environment. As part of the NASTAR Race Crew, the role also involves preparing racecourses, operating timing systems, and supporting participants to ensure a fun and safe racing experience for all ages and skill levels.

Expect most shifts to be over weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities

• Assist with setup and teardown of event spaces, including tents, signage, tables, and equipment.
• Support event operations such as registration, guest assistance, and crowd management.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of event areas before, during, and after events.
• Set up and maintain racecourses, including gates, fencing, and timing equipment.
• Operate timing systems and record race results accurately.
• Assist racers with registration, start procedures, and post-race activities.
• Monitor course safety and conditions, making adjustments as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to guests and participants.
• Collaborate with ski patrol and mountain operations to ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Troubleshoot minor issues and elevate concerns to supervisors as needed.

Specific Job Skills

License/Certifications: none

Technical: Basic computer skills, previous Race background is preferred. Skiing or riding at an expert level is preferred.

Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand or walk on snow for the entirety of your shift. Ability to be outside in all weather conditions. Able to lift 50 lbs on your own and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
