Gannon University’s Nash Library is seeking a friendly and proactive Student Aide to assist with daily library operations on campus in Erie, PA. The role focuses on patron service, circulation tasks, shelving, and basic tech support.
Successful candidates will greet patrons, help with check-ins/outs/renewals, and maintain a tidy, efficient library space. Evening/weekend availability and Federal Work Study eligibility are preferred.
- The student worker will be responsible for effectively communicating library information to students, faculty, staff, and community patrons. This could include book location/availability, study room availability, or account information. They must also demonstrate the ability to communicate class schedule information and availability to full time staff.
- The student worker must have basic knowledge of technology and be able to learn how to use library-specific software and other related technology. They will also use Microsoft Office and other similar programs. They will be responsible for assisting library patrons with setting up wifi and printing on personal devices and other technology-related tasks on a daily basis.
The Nash Library Student Aide will be the face of the library. He/she will be the first and last person the library patrons see and will therefore be an integral part of keeping patrons coming back to the library. The aide will assist staff with daily, routine library operations. Duties may include library searches, general office work, shelf-reading, data entry, pushing in chairs/tidying up the library space, assisting patrons, and maintaining statistics. Good manual dexterity is necessary for specified tasks. Hiring preference will be given to students who are eligible for Federal Work Study. If you are hired, your continued employment may be contingent on you remaining eligible for Federal Work Study.
Work is performed in a busy campus setting. Some evening and weekend hours are required. Must be a team player, and willing to cover or trade shifts if necessary. The student must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and occasional campus holiday breaks if necessary.
Must be a currently enrolled, full time, student. Must have minimum 2.8 GPA . Must be eligible for Federal Work Study
