Job summary

The Narcotics Unit Commander at Tarrant County will oversee the Sheriff’s Office’s Narcotics Task Force, reporting to the Sheriff and Task Force Board on significant matters. The role directs unit operations, budgets, and policy development while maintaining liaison with area and statewide narcotics agencies.

Ideal candidates bring extensive investigative leadership, enforcement experience, and licensure requirements, with strong communication and analytical skills to guide strategic direction

Qualifications

  • Requires 10+ years in law enforcement investigative and intelligence fields.
  • Requires 5+ years managing and supervising major unit investigative or intelligence activities.
  • Must hold or obtain Master Texas Peace Officer’s license and NCIC/TCIC certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Narcotics Unit operations and Task Force activities.
  • Develop and monitor annual budget goals for the unit.
  • Coordinate with federal/state/local law enforcement agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and report to management.
