Job summary

UC Santa Barbara’s Nanofabrication Facility within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department seeks a systems specialist to advance equipment resources and supervise daily cleanroom operations for a 400-user facility.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 4–6 years of experience in vacuum deposition/etch, thermal and wet processing, and photolithography, plus strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of vacuum deposition, etch, thermal and wet processing, and photolithography systems.
• Experience modifying equipment to enhance capabilities.
• Effective communication and analytical skills for collaborating with users.

Responsibilities

• 70% Nanofab Systems Specialist focused on vacuum deposition/etch, thermal/wet processing, metrology, and photolithography; designs equipment modifications and provides guidance to users.
• 25% Laboratory supervision of a 400-user nanofabrication cleanroom, ensuring safety trainings and daily operations.
• 5% After-hour support; on-call rotation to assist with lab issues.
