Job summary

The University of Utah Nanofab seeks a Cleanroom Safety Officer/Process Engineer to oversee cleanroom safety, chemical handling, and gas monitoring systems, write standard operating procedures and reports, and train researchers on safety protocols and equipment operation.

You will report to the cleanroom manager and assist in installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of cleanroom equipment, collaborating with EH&S, facilities, and related departments.

Qualifications

• Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
• Department may hire at Chemical Engineer levels I–III with specified experience/degree requirements.
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lab safety systems including hazardous gas monitoring, chemical handling, alarms and PPE.
• Respond to emergency alarms and situations during and outside normal hours.
• Train lab users on safety practices and enforce compliance with safety protocols.

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or related field
