Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a Technical Assistance Specialist to guide opioid overdose prevention programs, support naloxone distribution, and analyze program data in NYC. You will engage with OOPPs, conduct research, and help design surveys to improve overdose prevention efforts.

Ideal candidates have strong data skills, experience in harm reduction, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse partners.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an appropriate field with 1+ year of supervisory, administrative, or research experience for higher level appointments.
  • Experience in public health research and data management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and programmatic guidance to registered opioid overdose prevention programs (OOPPs) on implementation, naloxone distribution, data collection, and reporting.
  • Conduct research, data cleaning, and analysis on factors related to OOPP success and barriers to naloxone distribution in NYC.
  • Develop and analyze yearly survey design, data collection, and reporting for OOPP initiatives.
  • Maintain records of technical assistance and dispensing strategies in Access and Excel.
  • Deliver presentations to prospective and current OOPP staff and collaborate with teams to recruit organizations.
  • Review literature on naloxone distribution practices and develop materials to improve workflows.
  • Coordinate with Training Team to plan and deliver trainings for OOPPs and responders.
  • Assemble naloxone kits for trainings and maintain kit records; support mailing and documentation.
