Job summary

State of Florida seeks a Laboratory Technician IV (NAGPRA Coordinator) in Tallahassee to coordinate NAGPRA compliance, prepare inventories, organize consultations, and oversee repatriation of holdings. The role requires knowledge of NAGPRA, collections management, and strong written/verbal communication; a Master’s in Anthropology/Archaeology/History may substitute for experience.

Valid driver’s license and transcripts may be requested.

Qualifications

• Six years of direct work experience in Anthropology, Archaeology, History or related field.
• Master’s degree may substitute for required experience.
• Transcript provided if using education to qualify.
• Three professional references with current contact information.
• Knowledge of NAGPRA and handling culturally sensitive holdings.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Department’s responsibilities under NAGPRA.
• Prepare inventories and identify consulting parties.
• Organize consultation and repatriation of holdings.
• Update Collections Management System and keep NAGPRA documents current.
• Advise on provenance research for mixed holdings.
• Serve as contact for State keepsake cemetery program.
