Job summary

Otis is seeking a Commodity Specialist for the Field Supply Chain Team in North America. This remote role supports centralized purchasing for the MOD portfolio, including controllers, machines, door operators, fixtures, and cabs.

You will lead sourcing strategies, run RFPs/RFQs with field offices, standardize catalog offerings, and manage supplier performance from domestic and international sources to meet targets and improve service.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in business, supply chain, engineering, or related field.
  • 4-6 years in supply chain or elevator field.
  • Experience with MOD Elog.
  • Vendor sourcing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Global JDE and related systems (K2).
  • MS Office suite proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Forms, Smartsheet, Teams).
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and elevator specifications.

The Field Supply Chain Team in North America is seeking a Commodity Specialist to lead centralized purchasing and supplier management across the MOD buying category portfolio. The portfolio includes controllers, machines, door operators, fixtures, entrances, cabs, and other MOD materials and package requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute category-specific sourcing strategies across the MOD buying portfolio, ensuring spend under management through centralization and purchasing pathway control while driving annual savings and PTE targets.
  • Lead RFP/RFQ activities for both pre- and post-award MOD contracts in partnership with NAA field offices.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize catalog offerings and create consistent MOD/T package solutions.
  • Act as the primary supplier manager for vendors within assigned MOD buying categories, ensuring strong performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Present FSC-recommended material sources and pricing proposals to NAA field offices while ensuring clear communication and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Prepare and manage purchase orders for materials within assigned MOD buying categories sourced from domestic and international suppliers, ensuring adherence to Otis Terms & Conditions.
  • Oversee material procurement through delivery and installation, coordinating with third-party suppliers to ensure correct package configuration and efficient installation and integration.
  • Verify supplier purchase order and pricing confirmations and apply strong negotiation skills to secure best-in-market pricing.
  • Manage material logistics, including on‑time delivery, inventory levels, and supplier service performance.
  • Monitor actual versus estimated material and labor performance and contribute to the development of market intelligence.
  • Collaborate with OSC Customer Service, MOD, FLO, Engineering, UNITEC, and external suppliers to resolve supply issues quickly and maintain excellent customer service.
  • Identify and drive insourcing opportunities through OSC and FLO.
  • Manage catalog sourcing and pricing, as well as custom, competitively bid project materials.
  • Maintain high service levels by evaluating demand and expediting materials to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Manage supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and inventory management metrics.
  • Escalate issues promptly during centralized sourcing activities to minimize operational impact.
  • Develop price proposals, financial analyses, and reports supporting price reasonableness, purchasing decisions, and sourcing strategies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance internal processes, productivity, and future FSC centralization goals.
  • Other responsibilities include: Resolve discrepancies in purchase orders, Resolve material rejections, Manage price increases, Identify cost savings opportunities, Resolve invoicing issues.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Must possess a BS or BA in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience in a supply chain function or elevator field experience desired.
  • Experience in SDC.
  • MOD Elog experience.
  • Vendor sourcing experience preferred.
  • Experience with Global JDE and associated systems, including K2.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Forms, Smartsheet, and Teams.
  • Experience with other data manipulation programs is a plus.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and customer elevator or escalator specifications and requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups, including Field Operations (Sales, Supervisors, and Project Managers), Engineering, and Supplier Quality, to ensure business goals are met.
  • Ability to work in and fully support a team environment.

We seek a self‑motivated, team‑oriented individual with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate must be well‑versed in relevant business processes, associated systems, problem‑solving methods, and analytical tools. Internal and external customers are essential to our success, and this position requires an excellent customer service attitude. A strong understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles is a plus.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $93,000-$116,000. Pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
