We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on expertise across multiple MySQL versions to manage, optimize, and support mission-critical database environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database installation, configuration, performance tuning, security, automation, and high-availability operations, while working closely with application and infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, manage, and maintain MySQL databases across versions 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8, and 8.4.
- Ensure high availability, performance, reliability, and security of MySQL database environments.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively tune queries and system parameters.
- Design, implement, and manage robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Perform regular database maintenance activities, including patching, upgrades, and version migrations.
- Lead and support database migration projects, including on-premises to cloud and major version upgrades.
- Implement database security controls in alignment with compliance standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with software development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve database schema and design.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using shell scripting to streamline operational tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in production and non-production environments.
- Define and enforce database best practices, standards, and operational procedures.
- Communicate effectively with both technical teams and management stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience in MySQL Database Administration.
- Strong expertise in MySQL versions 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8, and 8.4.
- Proven experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Solid knowledge of backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability architectures.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments with a strong understanding of OS-level tuning for MySQL.
- Proficiency in shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
- Experience implementing database security, access controls, and compliance measures.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
