MWR Recreation Assistant (Community Recreation)

Summary

Performs a variety of duties in support of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program, including special events, recreation information/resources, command events, visiting ships or fleet support, community events, trips, tours, outings, rental equipment, resale tickets, green space management, bowling, Library, Liberty, grab-n-go, movies, and outdoor recreation.

Responsibilities
  • Provides customer service, information, and support for Community Recreation programs and activities.
  • Ensures proper patron eligibility, facility opening/closing, supplies management, and snack bar preparation.
  • Assists in program administration, data collection, and reporting.
  • Supports leisure trips and workshops in various recreation skills.
  • Maintains inventory and equipment accountability.
  • Handles rental forms, reservations, and inspections.
  • Processes customer registrations and sales transactions accurately.
  • Supports event setup, maintenance requests, and sanitation standards.
  • Provides recreation information and outreach for off-base opportunities.
  • Assists in program promotion, scheduling, and marketing.
  • Supports recruitment, training, and scheduling of staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Pass E-Verify and background checks.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, with flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Obtain certifications (First Responder, CPR, Food Handlers, C.A.R.E) within 90 days if not already certified.
  • Wear protective equipment as needed.
  • Experience or coursework in recreation (at least 12 semester hours).
Qualifications

Experience in customer service or recreation activities, ability to organize and plan events, work independently, and communicate effectively. Knowledge of Navy MWR mission, recreation procedures, and computer skills are required. High school diploma or GED preferred.

Additional Information

Must comply with federal drug-free workplace policies and background checks. Non-U.S. citizens with limited U.S. residency may be ineligible. Participation in direct deposit is required. Benefits are available per federal guidelines.
