Job summary

China Lake Golf Course seeks a Community Recreation Assistant to support base recreation programs and events. You will process registrations, manage equipment and inventory, assist with workshops and trips, and handle POS transactions and daily DAR reporting.

The role involves collaboration with on-base partners, outreach efforts, and ensuring sanitation and safety standards in line with NAVMED P-5010. Strong customer service is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Check patron eligibility to ensure authorized use of recreation facilities, resources and equipment.
  • Provide information about activities and program offerings, and open/close facilities.
  • Order and restock supplies, and prepare snack bar menu items or pre-packaged items.
  • Assist in day-to-day administration of multiple programs.
  • Submit event after-action reports, collect patronage data and enter program data.
  • Provide recreation experiences related to leisure skill sets through day and weekend trips.
  • Assist in workshops, clinics and events across leisure skills like camping, cycling, sailing, hiking and water sports.
  • Conduct inventory and maintain inventory controls and equipment for accountability.
  • Ensure rental/check-out forms are completed and reservation procedures followed.
  • Notify supervisor if damage or loss has occurred.
  • Check in/out equipment, collect rental fees, inventory items and inspect on return.
  • Process customer Internet registrations and event registrations.
  • Accountable for daily sales transactions and complete a DAR at end of shift.
  • Collect fees for tickets, retail, rentals, classes and trips using POS systems.
  • Perform inventory of equipment, retail goods and supplies with cash value.
  • Support event set-up and break down for Community Recreation events.
  • Initiate and follow up on maintenance calls for equipment/facility issues.
  • Adhere to NAVMED P-5010 sanitation requirements.
  • Research and refer recreational opportunities on/off base.
  • Assist in creating proposals, executing agreements and follow-up.
  • Perform community outreach to develop contacts.
  • Develop partnerships with on-base and off-base organizations to support MWR programs.
  • Promote E-reading resources via online MWR Library resources.
  • Promote MWR facilities and events through base outreach.
  • Update electronic/multimedia support tools as needed.
  • Schedule entertainment and promotions.
  • Assist planning, coordination, marketing and execution of MWR programs and events.
  • Support adherence to EEO principles and policies.
  • Assist with recruitment, training and scheduling of Community Recreation staff.
  • Perform administrative duties using software to track inventories, usage, comments and metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Provides customer service, information and support of Community Recreation programs and activities.
  • Service to MWR customers includes, but is not limited to: checking patron eligibility to ensure authorized use of recreation facilities, resources and equipment, providing information about activities and program offerings, opening and closing facilities, ordering and restocking supplies, and preparing snack bar menu items or pre- packaged retail items.
  • Assists in day-to-day administration of multiple programs to which assigned. Tasks include submission of event after-action reports, patronage data collection and entering program data.
  • Provides recreation experiences related to leisure skill sets in the form of day and weekend trips.
  • Assists in administering traditional and non-traditional workshops, clinics and events in a variety of leisure and recreation skills subject areas, in tune with offerings popular in the local area, including but not limited to camping, cycling, sailing, backpacking, canoeing, snow skiing, hiking and water sports.
  • Conducts inventory, maintains inventory controls and maintains equipment for proper accountability of program equipment and resources.
  • Ensures all rental or check-out forms are properly completed and reservation and check- out procedures are followed.
  • Notifies supervisor or program lead if damage or loss has occurred.
  • Checks Community Recreation equipment and resources in and out, collects any applicable rental fees, inventories items and completes inspections upon return.
  • Assists in processing customer Internet registrations (i.e. Net Near You), initial log-ins and event registrations.
  • Is accountable for the accuracy of daily sales transactions and completes a Daily Activity Report (DAR) at the end of every shift.
  • Collects fees from customers associated with sales of tickets, retail and rental items, as well as from classes, trips, and various other Community Recreation programs using Point of Sales (POS) and computer programs.
  • Performs inventory of various types of equipment, retail goods, supplies and items deemed to have cash value.
  • Provides support for Community Recreation event set up and break down.
  • Initiates and follows up on maintenance trouble calls to get equipment/facility issues resolved.
  • Adheres to NAVMED P-5010 sanitation requirements.
  • Researches and provides information and referral for a variety of recreational opportunities for individuals/families on and off the base.
  • Assists in the creation of professional proposals, execution of agreements and follow-up.
  • Performs community outreach to assist in the development of contacts.
  • Develops working partnerships with both on base and off base organizations (park districts, forest preserve, clubs, special interest groups, etc.) to support and benefit MWR programs.
  • Promotes use of recreational E-reading resources available through online MWR Library Program resources.
  • Seeks ways to promote MWR facilities and events through outreach opportunities on base.
  • Assists in updating of electronic and multi-media support tools, as needed.
  • Performs entertainment and promotion scheduling.
  • Assists in the planning, coordinating, publicizing, marketing and execution of MWR programs and special events.
  • Actively supports the command statement on adherence to EEO principles and policies.
  • Assists with recruitment, training and scheduling of Community Recreation staff.
  • Performs administrative duties, all of which are accomplished through a variety of means, including computer software programs which track resource inventories, patron usage/comments, and program standards metrics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned as they pertains to the duties of this position.
