Job summary

TMEIC seeks an experienced MV Transformer Engineer to analyze in‑service transformers, guide diagnostics, and coordinate OEM and field service efforts. You will work closely with engineering, sales, and customers to improve transformer reliability and service lifecycle performance.

The role requires hands‑on testing, safety compliance, and strong communication skills to support repairs, rebuilds, and warranty resolutions across domestic and international sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent via education and/or work experience.
• 3 years’ experience in testing, commissioning, service, or engineering of power transformers.
• Knowledge, formal training, and/or proficiency in operating transformer testing equipment for standard transformer testing (TTR, Winding resistance, Insulation resistance, PF/DF, etc).
• Demonstrated understanding of MV Transformers and associated substation engineering principles and standards.
• Hands‑on experience performing field testing, inspection, commissioning, or service of medium voltage transformers.
• Compliance with safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc).
• Knowledge of industry standards: NESC, NFPA 70B, ANSI/NETA ATS-MTS-ETT.
• Innovative problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work in all elements and conditions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; client and vendor coordination.
• Proficiency in MS Office; travel domestically and internationally (~50%).

Responsibilities

• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on in‑service MV transformers using electrical, mechanical, and fluid diagnostics.
• Conduct fleet reliability and condition assessments for MV transformers.
• Evaluate repair vs. replacement strategies and develop maintenance schedules per OEM recommendations.
• Coordinate on‑site inspection, testing, commissioning support, troubleshooting, and condition assessment.
• Manage MV transformer customer support cases across engineering, field services, and suppliers.
• Coordinate vendor qualification, audits, and technical presentations with sales/applications teams.
• Resolve open quality and warranty claims with MV transformer suppliers.
