Job summary

Potomac Testing is seeking a skilled Medium Voltage Cable Splicer to join our team in Carmel, IN. The role focuses on installing, splicing and terminating shielded MV power cables (5kV to 35kV) with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has MV splicing experience, knowledge of hand-applied tape, pre-molded and heat-shrink methods, and the ability to read construction drawings. Moderate travel (20–30%) may be required and onsite work is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program is advantageous.
• NCSCB certification preferred for splicing and terminating shielded MV cables.
• Confined space training is preferred.
• Proven MV Cable Splicer experience focused on safety and precision.

Responsibilities

• Cable splicing and termination of shielded MV cables using tape, connectors, and kits (pre-molded, heat-shrink, cold-shrink).
• Collaborate with project teams to execute splicing activities.
• Maintain safety practices and conduct regular safety assessments.
• Conduct testing on spliced cables to verify functionality and standards.
• Document all splicing and termination activities with accurate reports.
• Operate and maintain specialized cables splicing tools and equipment.
