Job summary

Hospital for Behavioral Medicine is seeking a Music Therapist for a per diem position in Worcester, MA. The role involves planning and delivering activity therapies within the treatment team, documenting care, and monitoring patients’ progress.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Music Therapy, MT-BC certification, and at least one year of psychiatric care experience, plus CPR and CPI training before restraining procedures.

Qualifications

• MT-BC certification or licensure is required.
• One year of related psychiatric patient care experience preferred.
• CPR certification and CPI training must be completed before restraining procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement activity services for assigned program.
• Observe, document changes in patients’ condition and progress.
• Communicate patient status to interdisciplinary team (Charge Nurse/Program Director).
• Document services per established criteria and plan of care.
• Provide feedback on patient response and therapy objectives to the team.

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A MUSIC THERAPIST - PER DIEM!Your Work Matters How will you make a difference?The Music Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.Demonstrate responsibility for observation and application of sound judgment in patients' physical and mental condition/needs.Observe and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge Nurse or Program Director.Provides assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.Ensure timely documentation of interventions and ensure interventions are based on the patient's plan of care.Effectively plans and implements activity therapy for assigned patient case load within the facility, as well as outside the hospital as required.Provide pertinent feedback to the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding patient response to therapy, treatment interventions, and therapeutic objectives, as appropriate and necessary.Document services rendered in accordance with established criteria.Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Music therapy.Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: Music Therapy, MT-BC.Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.Additional Skill Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of CPI Training prior to assisting with a restraining procedure and within 30 days of employment.
