Position Summary

The Music Therapist will conduct individual and group sessions aimed at achieving therapeutic goals such as anxiety reduction, pain management, developmental stimulation, alternative communication, positive coping, procedural support, and enhancing quality of life for patients and families. This role is part of the Child Life Department, working collaboratively to address the psychosocial and developmental needs of pediatric patients. The therapist will also deliver educational presentations to staff, volunteers, and the community as needed.

Qualifications
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team without direct supervision.
  • Board Certified or in the process of certification.
  • Preferred: NMT training or experience, NICU-MT training or experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy.
  • Preferred: One year of paid experience as a Music Therapist and experience working with children and families.
  • Experience in program development is a plus.
  • Ability to receive and prioritize referrals from hospital staff based on patient needs.
  • Competence in assessing developmental needs and establishing care plans.
  • Strong documentation skills for patient goals and progress.
  • Ability to evaluate intervention outcomes.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Willingness to collaborate with healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in guitar and vocal skills.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Basic computer skills.

The salary range is competitive and based on market data, considering skills, education, experience, and organizational needs. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, retirement, and others. Night, weekend, or on-call positions may include shift differentials or premium pay.
