Winthrop University is seeking a music theory tutor to support theory and aural skills students in the Basic Musicianship and four-level theory sequence. The tutor meets with students individually, reviews concepts, and aids with assignments, sight singing, and dictation practices.
The position is Regular Hourly and targets both graduate and undergraduate students, with a weekly commitment of six hours and an open date of 08/26/2026. The end date is 12/07/2026.
To help/tutor theory students who need extra help
The music theory tutor will meet with students individually who are enrolled in Basic Musicianship and four levels of Music Theory sequence (Music Theory I ~ IV), and Basic Aural Skills and four levels of Aural Skills sequence (Aural Skills I ~ IV). There are roughly about 100 students enrolled in the Theory and Aural Skills courses. The tutor will help students who struggle in these courses by reviewing the theoretical concepts, giving guidance to completing assignments, and assisting with sight singing and dictation practices. The tutor will work 6 (six) hours a week.
