Job summary

Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School in Washington, DC is seeking a Music Teacher Assistant to support the Music Teacher in creating an engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environment where students explore and develop musical skills.

The Music TA will assist with instruction, classroom management, materials and instrument prep, and coordination for concerts and school events, while collaborating with teachers and staff to support student learning and well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience working with children in a school or youth program preferred.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in music, music education, performance, or the arts preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students and adults in a diverse school community.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to supporting the well-being and success of all students.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily lessons, activities, projects, performances, and routines.
• Provide individual and small-group support during music instruction.
• Prepare and organize instruments, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Support positive student behavior and a safe, engaging learning environment.
• Monitor student transitions and supervise during schoolwide duties.
• Assist with concerts, performances, and schoolwide events.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support learning and well-being.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and colleagues.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development, and school activities.
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and punctuality.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
