Job description

Education Through Music is a non-profit organization partnering with New York City Public Schools to reintegrate music education into school curricula. We support teachers who are not certified to teach in public schools by providing a pathway to certification, program development, and eventual employment within the DOE. Serving all five boroughs, we collaborate with 50 schools and reach over 18,000 children, emphasizing music’s role in social, emotional, and educational equity.

Responsibilities:

1. Serve as school music faculty.
2. Coordinate and develop in-school music programs with staff.
3. Produce two school-wide concerts annually.
4. Assist in school functions such as assemblies, graduations, and after-school activities.
5. Plan lessons with comprehensive scope and sequencing.
6. Reflect on, implement, and improve existing processes.

Note: Applicants without 'eligible' status for NYC DOE classroom teaching will need to undergo fingerprinting and background checks through the NYC DOE PETS system. Only those with approved 'eligible' status can be hired by ETM.

Pay Range: $54,156 - $64,390/year.
