Job summary

Chesterbrook Academy in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Music and Performing Arts Teacher to deliver a vibrant arts curriculum for PK–8 students, including vocal and instrumental instruction, movement, drama, and performances.

The role emphasizes creativity, confidence, collaboration, and cultural appreciation, with opportunities to organize school-wide events and collaborate with colleagues across grade levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Performing Arts, or related field.
• Experience teaching music and/or theater in a PK–5 school setting.
• Ability to direct musical ensembles, choirs, or theatrical productions.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Flexibility, creativity, and a passion for working with young learners.
• Ability to successfully pass a state and federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging lessons in general music, vocal/instrumental instruction, and performing arts tailored to developmental stages.
• Organize school-wide performances, showcases, and community events that highlight student growth and achievement.
• Collaborate with teachers across grade levels to integrate performing arts with other areas of the curriculum.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and the school community to support student development.
• Maintain classroom environments and resources that are safe, inclusive, and supportive of artistic expression.
