Job summary

Jobtailor is assisting NYU Steinhardt's Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions in recruiting an academic advisor dedicated to student success. You will counsel students on academic, career, and personal matters and guide them through matriculation, registration, and goal-setting.

You will attend recruitment events, lead the New Student Seminar, coordinate advisement across programs, and liaise with Steinhardt Student Affairs on retention and graduation issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or Counseling required.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in academic advisement or related fields.
• Knowledge of New York State higher education laws and policies.
• Experience using Peoplesoft for advising and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students on academic, career, and personal matters.
• Advise students regarding matriculation, registration, and goal-setting.
• Attend recruitment, orientation, and admissions events.
• Lead the New Student Seminar.
• Provide advisement support to several programs.
• Respond to inquiries about the School, department, and programs.
• Liaise with Steinhardt Student Affairs on retention and graduation matters.
