Job summary

Texas State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Music Education to lead the student teaching program and teach undergraduate music education courses. The role balances administrative coordination with instructional duties to support future music educators.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the College of Education and cooperating teachers, supervise student teachers, and engage in program assessment and accreditation activities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Music Education or closely related field required.
• Demonstrated expertise in music education and program organization.
• Strong interpersonal and coordination skills with diverse partners (students, teachers, university staff).
• Preferred doctorate and collegiate-level teaching/mentoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the student teaching program and placements with education partners.
• Teach undergraduate music education courses in area of specialization.
• Supervise and mentor student/clinical teachers in field placements.
• Participate in recruitment, accreditation, and assessment efforts within the program.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the School of Music leadership.
