Job summary

West Ottawa High School is seeking a Music Ed Assistant/Accompanist to support the music program. The role includes piano accompaniment for class and performances, choir rehearsals and concerts, and coaching solos and ensembles under the director's guidance.

The ideal candidate will have advanced music theory and strong sight-reading, conducting, transposing, arranging, and coaching skills, with the ability to lead section rehearsals and assist substitute teachers as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in a music classroom and play piano for class and performances.
• Accompany school choirs during rehearsals and concerts; assist the director in section rehearsals and coaching.
• Perform piano accompaniment for rehearsals and performances including concerts and festivals.
• Lead section rehearsals by playing parts and providing vocal modeling for technique and rhythm.
• Coach solos and ensembles by arranging or transposing music, teaching notes and rhythms, and addressing intonation.
• Provide assistance to substitute teachers by leading rehearsals as needed.
