Job description

Music Director

Full-time, 40 hours per week, with health benefits

All Saints’ Church is seeking a full-time Music Director to provide leadership in all areas of musical worship in the life of our vibrant and growing congregation. Prospective candidates will model a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ, excel in leading blended musical worship which incorporates traditional hymnody with contemporary Christian worship in a distinctly Anglican context, and further develop and integrate music and worship arts into all areas of congregational life. This position has an important role in the Sunday morning worship services, as All Saints’ Church seeks to bring the diverse members of our community into the presence of God. The Music Director reports directly to the Rector.

This role is not open to musicians who are only seeking “gig” work but instead we are seeking someone who desires to invest in this community. Every member of the All Saints’ staff team works together to build community together and as such this full-time ministry position must take priority over other work or performance opportunities.

  • Plans and leads musical worship for all Sunday services, special services, and events throughout the year in accordance with the ACNA liturgical calendar year

  • Leads worship teams and choir rehearsal one night each week
  • Prepares communications and ministry information in close coordination with church Communications Director
  • Maintains all church-owned instruments, musical, and sound equipment in close coordination with music ministry participants and makes recommendations for timely purchases, repairs, and upgrades to equipment
  • Develops and manages the annual budget for worship arts and audio/visual services
  • Oversees, trains, organizes, and equips audio/visual ministry volunteers (sound board, projection, video, live stream and audio recording)
  • Schedules all musical worship and audio/visual volunteers on a monthly basis

While this role has a definite scope, we are looking for the right fit for our growing church community. We are open to tailoring this role in some aspects as the gifts and talents of the individual are discerned.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who have a strong desire to maintain and further develop the Worship Arts Ministry in all respects as we continue to grow as fully committed disciples of Jesus Christ worshiping in the Anglican tradition.

  • Skilled vocalist and proficient in at least one instrument
  • Previous experience of leading blended musical worship
  • Degree in a related field an asset, previous experience a plus
  • Personally models worship in a way that encourages greater participation and openness to the moving of the Holy Spirit in the life of the congregation
  • Specialized knowledge in best practices in music and audio/visual ministry with a commitment to continue growing and remaining up to date with new technologies
  • Responsible with strong work ethic and a commitment to meet deadlines and schedule expectations in a timely manner
  • Self-starter who works well in a highly collaborative setting with Rector, clergy, staff, and volunteers
  • Proficient working knowledge of audio/visual equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Google Workspace and proficiency and willingness to quickly learn other technology as required, including ProPresenter, Planning Center Online, Spotify Soundtrack, Hymnody, and manage all music related accounts and licenses
  • Wholehearted assent and willingness to live by The ACNA’s foundational documents (Historic Creeds, 39 Articles, Jerusalem Declaration) and All Saints’ Church Principles of Stewardship and Biblical Standards of Sexual Morality
