Job summary

George Washington Carver Academy in Highland Park, MI is seeking an enthusiastic Elective Teacher focused on Music or Choir to join our team for the 26/27 school year. Michigan teaching certification is preferred.

The successful candidate will develop engaging curricula, conduct classes, direct performances, and collaborate with staff to support a diverse, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field; Michigan certification preferred.
• Experience teaching music or choir at middle/high school level.
• Strong knowledge of music theory, choral techniques, and repertoire.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging music or choir curricula.
• Conduct regular classes in music or choir.
• Organize and direct school performances and concerts.
• Assess and provide feedback on students’ progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-disciplinary projects.
• Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff.
• Stay current with developments in music education.
