Job summary

The Rhode Island School of Design's RISD Museum is seeking a Visitor Services Desk Shift Supervisor to lead front desk operations, welcome a diverse array of guests, and model outstanding customer service.

You will supervise desk staff, coordinate shift schedules, process admissions and memberships, and collaborate with campus partners while upholding RISD's values of equity, inclusion, and service to the broader community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of two years of responsible customer service experience.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Experience delivering training programs and initiatives.
• Ability to work ethically with diverse populations and promote inclusivity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the day to day general operations of the RISD Museum front desk during museum operating hours on weekdays and weekends.
• Provide direction, supervision and leadership to Visitor Services staff and manage shifts.
• Respond to visitor concerns and feedback and apply museum policy and judgment.
• Greets guests, groups, parents, alumni and members and assists as needed.
• Orient self-guided groups and set up visits in collaboration with Education.
• Process financial transactions including admissions, memberships and events; issue receipts and change.
• Balance cash, manage cash drawer and assist with end-of-day reports.
