As a Museum Shop Sales Associate, you will play a vital role in promoting and representing the DAM and Museum Shop by providing high quality customer service to all visitors, while emulating the Denver Art Museum Core Values. You will be working within one of our 5 Gift Shop locations within the Denver Art Museum for the full extent of our Fall Exhibition: Diva. You will assist with the daily operations of the Museum Shop by interacting with and assisting visitors, making and processing sales, and restocking merchandise. Shifts can vary and will include days, evenings and weekends.Location: Denver Art Museum.Pay Range: $19.29 - $23.75/hour (Based on experience).A $0.50/hour language differential is available for candidates who demonstrate Spanish language proficiency.Please note: Parking at the museum is paid-only.Position type: This position will not be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU.What You’ll DoAs a Museum Shop Sales Associate, your responsibilities will include:Customer Service & SalesGreet and engage customers in a friendly, professional mannerUnderstand customer needs and recommend products accordinglyDrive sales through product knowledge, suggestive selling, and upsellingStore OperationsComplete all POS transactions in a professional and friendly mannerReconciles POS register at the end of the shift (counting monies and entering data)Maintains all Shop departments and areas in a neat and organized manner, and adheres to all cleaning protocols set in place for the museumActs as a resource for questions relating to the general museum, exhibitions, the museum complex, the surrounding area, and attractionsProduct Knowledge & MerchandisingStays informed on current promotions, sales, and product features/benefitsActively promotes membership sales and membership renewalsRestocks products throughout the day and at closingCommunicates product needs to the management team or to the shop lead.Ensures merchandise is tagged, priced, and presented neatly, including new merchandise, on the sales floorTeam CollaborationCommunicate effectively with coworkers and managementParticipate in team meetings, training, and store eventsSupport peers with tasks and contribute to a positive store cultureAttends museum staff meetings (Huddle and All-staff) as well as attend on-going employee enrichments/training programs and customer service trainingsConsistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operationsWhat We’re Looking ForA high School diploma or equivalent and previous retail experience (2+ years preferred)Exceptional customer service skillsComfort with sales techniques such as suggestive selling and product knowledgeBasic math skills for handling cash and inventoryThe ability to use positive languageA positive attitude and professional demeanorPeople-oriented perspective with a focus on inclusivenessDependability, punctuality, and a team-oriented mindsetPropensity for being detail-oriented with good organizational skillsAbility to balance multiple priorities and stay organized in a dynamic, fast-moving environment, especially during special eventsAbility to adapt to a variety of situationsA dynamic, flexible approach when changes arisePatience with the ability to listen and understandCreative and curious mindsetWork Environment/Physical ActivitiesRequired to work days and evening hours and weekends or holidays where necessary; must be flexible to change hours for exhibitions and eventsEnvironment: temperature controlledActivities: Ability to stand for long periods of time (entire shift)Capable of lifting/moving up to 30-40 lbsAble to bend, reach, and climb ladders as needed for merchandising and stockingOur Hiring Process & What to ExpectWe know job searching can be overwhelming, so here’s a transparent look at our process:Application close date: October 8th, 2026Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to respond to phone calls or emails regarding application status.
