Job summary

Denver Art Museum seeks a Manager of Institutional Giving to secure philanthropic support from foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners. You will manage the full grant lifecycle from research to reporting, build strong funder relations, and oversee corporate membership programs for Learning & Engagement.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of fundraising experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally.

Manager of Institutional Giving (Full-time, Exempt)

Why Join Us?

The Manager of Institutional Giving is responsible for securing philanthropic support from institutional funders, including foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners. This position manages the full lifecycle of grant and sponsorship fundraising, from prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and proposal development through award management, reporting, and stewardship. The Manager builds and maintains strong relationships with current and prospective funders by initiating outreach, conducting meetings, identifying new funding opportunities, and ensuring excellent funder engagement. This position entails a specific focus on fundraising support for the Learning & Engagement Department’s programs and initiatives. The Manager manages the corporate membership program, including active membership sales, renewals, benefits fulfillment, and ongoing stewardship. The Manager will also prepare the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) recertification report annually.

Position type: This position will be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU.

Pay: The hiring salary range for the position is $62,400 - $83,200 based on experience.

What You’ll Do:
  • Report to the Director of Institutional Giving and contribute to the achievement of departmental fundraising goals.
  • Develop compelling grant proposals, sponsorship packages, budgets, reports, and supporting materials to meet annual fundraising objectives.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with foundations, government agencies, corporate members/sponsors, and corporate foundations to secure fundingfor exhibitions, acquisitions, annual and operating support, and other institutional priorities.
  • Manage the corporate membership program including active sales, renewals, lapsed recaptures, benefits fulfillment, stewardship, and revenue growth.
  • Serve as the primary fundraising lead for Learning & Engagement programs, securing institutional support through grants, sponsorships, and corporate partnerships.
  • Conduct ongoing prospect research to identify, qualify, and pursue new institutional funding opportunities.
  • Serve as the Development Department liaison to the Learning & Engagement Committee.
  • Support the Director of Institutional Giving in coordinating Conservation Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and participate in meetings, site visits, presentations, calls, and other communications with current and prospective funders.
  • Collaborate across departments and coordinate teams to gather information, develop proposals, manage funded projects, and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Oversee fulfillment of all grant and sponsorship obligations ensuring timely reporting, acknowledgments, and stewardship communications.
  • Collaborate with the Development Communications Associate to create and distribute corporate member communications, sponsorship reports, funder updates, exhibition and program information packets, and other materials as assigned.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of the annual SCFD recertification report.
  • Represent the museum at events, programs, and business and community functions to strengthen relationships with existing and prospective funders.
  • Travel as needed to fulfill fundraising and relationship-management responsibilities.
  • Partner with the Director of Institutional Giving and Chief Development Officer to develop annual fundraising strategies, work plans, and revenue goals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive records of constituent interactions, proposals, grants, sponsorships, and memberships within the CRM database.
  • Monitor progress toward fundraising goals and maintain accurate reporting for organizational metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and board reporting.
  • Performs additional duties as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.
  • Consistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operations as well as program development and decision-making.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of fundraising experience, with demonstrated success securing support from institutional funders, including foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners.
  • Experience managing the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, cultivation, proposal development, submission, reporting, and stewardship.
  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and grow relationships with funders, sponsors, and corporate partners through proactive outreach and engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter, resourceful, driven, and motivated to meet and exceed fundraising goals.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating cross-departmental teams and working collaboratively with program, accounting, and leadership staff.
  • Proficiency with donor databases, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend work, as necessary.
  • Availability of personal vehicle or other means of transportation to visit prospects and attend external events.
  • Experience managing corporate membership or corporate partnership programs.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends in foundation, government, and corporate philanthropy.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, cultural, educational, or mission-driven organization.
  • Ability to learn and present appropriate art terms and concepts.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree a plus
