Job summary

Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) Protection Services seeks a motivated individual to support a team in a dynamic environment. UMFA, established in 1914, preserves a vast collection and serves Utah’s cultural landscape. Protection Services safeguards the art and delivers customer service in line with museum policies.

Responsibilities include securing facilities, patrolling, assisting during emergencies, and coordinating with visitors and staff to maintain a secure yet welcoming atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can substitute for 1 year of directly related work experience.
• Facilities Security Specialist I: little to no related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Building security and safety: lock/unlock doors, turn off lights, minimize Hazards, enforce rules for visitors.
• Patrols and surveillance: regular patrols, inspect doors/windows, monitor cameras and security systems.
• Emergency response and support: assist during emergencies, unlock buildings, assist crowd control, contact Police when needed.
• Customer service and community support: work with front-of-house teams to provide a secure, welcoming environment.
• Log maintenance and incident reporting: keep logs, report issues to department heads and University Police.
