Job summary

The Art Institute of Chicago invites undergraduate students to apply for the Museum Scholars program. This 12‑month placement, beginning October 2026 and concluding August 2027, offers a rich opportunity to study and work with the Research Center and Academic Engagement and Research (AER).

You will develop skills in collections work, research, writing, public engagement, and collaboration with mentors across departments, with a mix of on‑site and hybrid activities.

Qualifications

• Eligible undergraduate students who’ve completed the McMullan Family Foundation Summer Intensive program.
• Museum Scholars gain awareness and further their development in areas including professional skills, writing, and public engagement.
• Regular activities with a museum mentor, weekly/biweekly meetings, and project work are part of the program.

Responsibilities

• Participation in Museum Scholars program over 12 months (Oct 2026–Aug 2027).
• Gaining experience in collections management, research, writing, and public engagement.
• Engagement in mentorship, host department projects, and cohort activities.
• Delivery of a capstone project and a gallery talk at year end.
