Job summary

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is seeking a Museum Preparator I to support art handling, installation, and logistics across exhibitions at the Third Street location and Collection Center in South San Francisco. The role collaborates with preparator leadership and across departments to ensure safe handling and proper display of artworks.

Minimum one year of related experience is preferred; a High School diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required; interest and knowledge of modern and contemporary art desirable.
Minimum of one year related experience or equivalent.
Ability to comprehend and execute task-based direction from senior staff.
Efficient time, materials, and safety-minded work habits.
Detail-oriented with accuracy in project execution.
Familiarity with shop tools and safety procedures; willingness to learn unfamiliar tools.

Responsibilities

Assist with movement, packing/unpacking, installation, and lighting of artworks.
