Job summary

UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art is seeking Part-time Engagement Guides to welcome visitors and orient them at the front desk and in galleries. You will facilitate conversations about artists and exhibitions, and highlight museum programs, tours, and events.

Guides participate in trainings on visitor engagement and artwork safety, enabling personalized interactions with works on view while ensuring a positive visitor experience throughout the museum spaces.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, and good time management skills.
• Knowledge and experience of hospitality and customer services best practices and strong interpersonal skills to ensure every visitor has a positive, welcoming, and memorable experience.
• Interest and knowledge of art, art history and/or museum collections and exhibitions
• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and orient visitors at the front desk and in galleries, facilitating meaningful conversations around current and upcoming artists and exhibitions.
• Highlight museum programs, tours, and special events to visitors.
• Participate in trainings outlining best practices for visitor engagement and artwork safety.
