Job summary

Alfred University seeks an operational project manager for museum exhibitions. You will coordinate schedules, staff, facilities, transport, and materials to support high-value artworks and complex installations.

Working with the Museum Director and Curator, you will ensure safe handling, documentation and timely execution of exhibitions while maintaining compliance with university policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, fine arts, art history or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional museum or gallery experience.
• Experience with art handling, installation and deinstallation.
• Knowledge of professional museum practices related to exhibition preparation and documentation.
• Experience with exhibition logistics, scheduling, shipping, installation, and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate exhibition schedules, workflows, installation and deinstallation, staffing, facilities support, transportation and materials.
• Install and deinstall high-value artwork using museum practices.
• Oversee off-site storage organization and asset documentation.
• Recruit, train and supervise temporary staff and volunteers.
• Coordinate vendor proposals, purchasing and budget tracking for exhibitions.
• Maintain exhibition records and collaborate with artists, curators and campus partners.
