Job summary

The Birmingham Museum of Art is seeking an Exhibition Project Manager to oversee temporary and permanent project work, coordinating with curatorial, design, conservation, and education teams to deliver exhibitions on time and within budget.

Responsibilities include publishing timelines, managing budgets, coordinating catalogs and digital publications, and ensuring legal and contractual compliance across all partners. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2–3 years coordinating multifaceted projects, preferably museum exhibitions.
  • Experience drafting contracts and agreements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, able to convey information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Basecamp and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the approval, scheduling, and workflow of exhibitions and gallery installations.
  • Develop and manage project timelines and cross-department coordination.
  • Prepare agendas, take minutes, and circulate action items with organizing curators.
  • Track project details and use PM tools for documentation and sharing.
  • Manage budgets, lending, and contracts with lenders and venues.
