General Summary

This role facilitates guest and customer experiences, including paid programs such as camps, classes, Tier I and II shows, and other educational activities, in addition to managing admissions-related operations. This part-time position is scheduled for 4 days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Facilitate programs, presentations, demonstrations, and lead educational activities in various settings.
  2. Handle a variety of animals, including those classified as Tier I, II, and III by Living Collections.
  3. Engage visitors using informal educational approaches, including pre-designed and impromptu activities.
  4. Adapt content and complexity to suit the ages and interests of children and their families.
  5. Select and assemble materials for demonstrations and programming.
  6. Conduct inventory and purchase departmental supplies as needed.
  7. Lead special event days and prototype experiences upon request.
  8. Teach Early Childhood and/or Lab classes for visiting schools, as scheduled.
  9. Display enthusiasm, energy, and positive behavior to guests.
  10. Evaluate the success of experiences through guest feedback.
  11. Work at the admissions desk and retail shop as a front-line customer service representative, greeting guests, managing check-ins, and processing sales accurately.
  12. Conduct group orientations and inform guests about programming, membership, and events.
  13. Provide feedback to management based on customer interactions.
  14. Monitor inventory levels and notify management of needs.
  15. Process membership sales and ensure safety of exhibits and environment.
  16. Perform exhibit checks and report or correct issues.
  17. Enforce safety policies, assist in emergency procedures, and perform daily housekeeping and cleaning routines.
  18. Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude, support organizational values, and demonstrate flexibility in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in science or education preferred, with two years of related museum or teaching experience or an equivalent combination. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Working Conditions

The environment is typically loud, with outdoor work involved. Ability to work in crowded spaces and lift up to 20 pounds regularly is required. Vision and physical agility are necessary for daily tasks.
