Job summary

The City of Irving, TX is seeking an Education and Programs Intern (Part-Time) to support the Arts and Culture / Museum division at Irving Archives and Museum. Working with the Education and Programs Manager, this role contributes to museum programs, outreach, and informal learning experiences.

You'll help design hands-on activities, develop educational materials, assist with public programs and events, and support the Spark!Lab visitor experiences to engage diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate program with major course work in education, museum studies, curriculum and instruction, or a related field within the past year.
• Strong teamwork skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the design, development, and delivery of hands-on activities, workshops, and informal learning experiences for student groups and general museum visitors.
• Collaborating with the Education and Programs Manager to create and update educational materials, lesson plans, and program guides to enhance museum experiences for diverse audiences.
• Supporting the coordination and execution of public programs, including Second Saturdays, family days, and other community events, by helping with event setup, managing event flow, engaging with participants, and collecting feedback.
• Assisting with the daily operation and visitor engagement in Spark!Lab, including setting up activities, guiding visitors through hands-on invention activities, and maintaining a safe, interactive environment.
• Providing program-related content to the marketing team for the promotion of educational initiatives, events, and exhibitions; assisting with program evaluation by collecting feedback and tracking attendance.
