Job summary

City of Irving’s Department of Arts and Culture is hiring an Education and Programs Intern for a part-time role based at Irving Archives and Museum. You will assist with hands-on activities, workshops, and informal learning for student groups and visitors, and help create educational materials alongside the Education and Programs Manager.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or have completed a graduate program with major course work in education, museum studies, curriculum and instruction or related field within the past year.
• Internships at IAM are up to 18 months in length to provide significant training and work experience.
• Part-time position up to 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development, and delivery of hands-on activities, workshops, and informal learning experiences for student groups and visitors.
• Collaborate with Education and Programs Manager to create and update educational materials, lesson plans, and program guides.
• Support coordination and execution of public programs, including Second Saturdays, family days, and other community events.
• Assist with daily operation and visitor engagement in Spark!Lab, including setting up activities and guiding hands-on invention activities.
• Work with exhibitions staff on planning and installation of temporary exhibitions, and prepare educational content.
• Provide program-related content to Marketing for promotion of initiatives, events, and exhibitions.
• Assist with program evaluation by collecting feedback, tracking attendance, and analyzing outcomes.
