The South Carolina State Museum is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Collections Assistant to support the Collections Manager in caring for the collection. This temporary hourly role involves handling objects, assisting with movement for research and display, and performing regular pest monitoring as part of our IPM program.

Responsibilities include updating records in EMu, assisting with exhibits, and escorting contractors in secured spaces.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail is required.
• Comfortable with insects and small snakes/lizards.
• Able to sit or stand for long periods.
• Able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
• Able to work in dirty, dusty, poorly lit conditions.

Responsabilités

• Handle a variety of objects and pack objects for storage.
• Assist with object movement for research, display, etc.
• Monitor pests as part of IPM system.
• Conduct spot inventories and update records in EMu.
