Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Museum Attendant for the Texas Science & Natural History Museum on the UT Main Campus. You will monitor and assist with security, engage visitors, and provide information during museum hours and events.

Responsibilities include guiding guests, reporting incidents, supporting event setup, and participating in training to improve security and customer service skills. Weekend/evening availability is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work with the public in a museum setting.
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Promotes a collaborative climate that welcomes all individuals.
• Calmly organize and direct in emergency situations.
• Ability to work well in a team and alone.
• Demonstrated professional demeanor and personal initiative.
• Weekend and evening availability.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the safety and security of the museum by monitoring visitors, exhibitions, building, and grounds.
• Provide clear guidance and information to ensure a positive and welcoming visitor experience.
• Document and report observed issues or irregularities to supervisors.
• Open/close museum operations and assist with events, furniture setup, and equipment as needed.
• Serve as an initial responder during emergencies and help with evacuations.
