The University of Virginia Health System (UVA Health) is seeking a fellowship-trained Musculoskeletal Radiologist to join our Community Division, serving Prince William Hospital, Haymarket Medical Center, Culpeper Hospital and imaging centers in Culpeper and Gainesville.

The role combines a busy community practice with the academic resources of a nationally recognized university health system in Northern Virginia near Washington, D.C.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with board certified/eligible in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology completed.
  • Eligibility for Virginia medical licensure.
  • Strong clinical skills and a collaborative, patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret a full range of MSK imaging studies including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and radiography of extremities, joints, spine and pelvis.
  • Perform and interpret image-guided MSK procedures such as joint injections, aspirations and biopsies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and provide consultative expertise.
  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine, rheumatology, oncology and PCPs.
  • Share in the division's clinical schedule and call coverage, with occasional Culpeper imaging coverage.

Job description

The University of Virginia Health System (UVA Health) is seeking a fellowship-trained Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologist to join our Community Division. This position offers the opportunity to practice the full spectrum of musculoskeletal imaging in a collegial, supportive environment serving Prince William Hospital, Haymarket Medical Center, Culpeper Hospital,Culpeper Outpatient Imaging Center and Gainesville Outpatient Imaging Center. The role combines the advantages of a dynamic community-based practice with the academic connection and resources of a nationally recognized university health system.

The successful candidate will devote approximately90–95% effort to clinical serviceand5–10% to administrative and service activities, with flexibility to adapt as the division evolves.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Interpret a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal imaging studies, includingMRI, CT, ultrasound, and radiographyof the extremities, joints, spine, and pelvis.
  • Perform and interpretimage-guided musculoskeletal procedures, such asjoint injections, aspirations, and biopsies, as appropriate.
  • Participate inmultidisciplinary case conferences(e.g., orthopedic oncology, sports medicine, rheumatology) and provide consultative expertise for referring physicians and technical staff.
  • Collaborate closely withorthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, rheumatologists, oncologists, and primary care providersto ensure the highest-value use of imaging studies.
  • Share in the division’sclinical schedule and call responsibilities, with occasional coverage at the Culpeper Outpatient Imaging Center.
Service & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Contribute to divisionalquality improvement, workflow optimization, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Participate inpeer review, protocol development, andmarketing/recruitment efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with technologists, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality imaging protocols and timely service.
  • Support a culture ofcollegiality, inclusivity, and respectacross the Division and UVA Health.
  • Help advance theprofessional reputation of UVA Radiologyin the communities we serve.
Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree; board certified/eligible inDiagnostic Radiology.
  • Fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Radiology.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Strongclinical skills, acollaborative mindset, and acommitment to patient-centered care.

The base compensation range for this role is$503,453 - $602,506for a 1.0 clinical FTE status. Individual compensation will be determined by fair market value and the selected candidate's qualifications, clinical experience, specialty training, credentials, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs, such as productivity, quality, non-productivity, or other incentives that may be available for eligible positions.
