Job summary

The Town of Killington, Vermont, is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage the general ledger, monthly close, reconciliations and audit prep within the Finance Department. You will supervise the Bookkeeper and collaborate with the Treasurer and Finance Director on routine matters and policy implementation.

Responsibilities include maintaining ledgers, posting journal entries, overseeing bank reconciliations, preparing budgets and Town Report materials, and supporting external auditors.

Qualifications

• GAAP, fund accounting, GASB standards applied in municipal finance.
• Experience with Vermont municipal finance practices and Excel.
• Ability to meet fixed deadlines and explain financial information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger, prepare journal entries and interfund transfers.
• Oversee reconciliations and tie ledgers to GL; assist month-end close.
• Coordinate with auditors; prepare GASB entries and schedules.
• Prepare budget-to-actual reports and assist with Town Report.
• Train Bookkeeper and attend Select Board meetings.
