The City of Clayton is hiring for the full-time Municipal Service Technician I in the Parks Maintenance Department. This role performs manual maintenance work for parks, grounds, and facilities, with duties assigned to specific areas.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, one year of park/maintenance experience, a Class B CDL within six months, and CPR/AED/First Aid certification within three months. Evening/weekend work and weather-event responses are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• One (1) year previous work experience in general park maintenance, landscaping, or facility maintenance.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment.
• Certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and First Aid required within three months of employment.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to prepare parks for events and rental usage.
• Ability to respond to weather events at any time of day.

Responsibilities

• Delivers safe and excellent customer service to residents and patrons.
• Maintains and cleans park grounds, structures, fixtures and sites, including restrooms and trash cans.
• Assists with landscape maintenance: tree pruning/removal, planting, bed maintenance, mulch, leaf collection.
• Mows and trims parks using hand/riding mowers and trimmers.
• Assists in maintenance of tennis center, aquatic center, and park facilities.
• Prepares and maintains athletic fields and volleyball courts.
• Assists with emergency snow removal and city-wide storm clean-up.
• Opens/closes aquatic complex, tennis center and sports complex seasonally.
• Operates small trucks/tractors/mowers safely.
• Assists with setup, operation, and teardown of park and city events.

The City of Clayton is accepting applications for the full time Municipal Service Technician I position for the Parks Maintenance Department. The purpose of Municipal Service Technician I position is to perform manual maintenance work for the Parks Maintenance Department. Technicians may be assigned specific areas of responsibility within a department, so not all duties may apply to all positions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Municipal Service Technician I:

• Delivers a safe and excellent customer service experience to residents and patrons.
• Maintains and cleans park ground, structures, fixtures and the associated sites, including the cleaning of restroom facilities and emptying garbage and/or trash cans.
• Assists with landscape maintenance to include tree pruning and removal; tree planting, installation of annual and perennial plantings; landscape bed maintenance; mulch application; and fall leaf collection.
• Mows and trims the parks by operating hand and riding mowers and power trimmers.
• Assists in the maintenance and operation of the tennis center, and aquatic center as well as park facilities.
• Assists in the preparation and maintenance of athletic fields and volleyball courts.
• Assists with emergency snow removal and city wide storm clean-up.
• Assists in the seasonal opening and closing of aquatic complex, tennis center and sports complex.
• Operates small trucks, tractors, mowers and auxiliary maintenance equipment to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
• Assists with the set-up, operation and tear-down of Park and City events.

Minimum Qualifications For The Municipal Service Technician I

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• One (1) year previous work experience in general park maintenance, landscaping, or facility maintenance.
